Test Chart Product Information
- Test Charts are printed on 20# vellum paper. Vellum paper is a semi-transparent paper similar to tracing paper.
- Vellum Paper Test Charts are primarily used for testing at USCG Regional Exam Centers (RECs). Some RECs require that port pilotage chart sketch exams be performed on a Vellum Paper Test Chart as opposed to White Paper Practice Chart (contact your REC for specific instructions as to which chart to use for testing).
- PilotTestCharts.com (PTC) reaches out to each REC for specific guidance as to which charts elements to include or exclude from the Test Charts (each REC operates differently and requires different chart elements be included or excluded).
- Test Chart sketches can be easily self-graded by overlaying the Test Chart directly onto a PTC printed NOAA Chart. Once lined up properly, you can compare your chart sketch to the details of the NOAA Chart.
- Test Charts, Practice Charts, PTC printed NOAA Charts, Chartlet Pack segments, and Overlay Charts are all designed to line up with one another which makes self-grading simple and straight forward!
- NOTE: Test Charts and Practice Charts are the exact same except for the type of paper they are printed on.
